Grigg, who left the Stadium of Light on loan on deadline day, netted his first goal for his temporary employers in their 4-3 win over the Cobblers.

And for Grigg, it was a weight lifted as he found the net for the first time in a competitive fixture since Sunderland’s 5-0 win over Tranmere Rovers last season.

George Dobson was also in action as he was handed a start for AFC Wimbledon at Peterborough United.
