'Unacceptable, 'shocking' and 'disgraceful': Sunderland supporters left disappointed as club reveal season ticket plans

In a lengthy Q&A released today, Sunderland confirmed that supporters would receive partial refunds on their 2019/20 season ticket if League One is curtailed – but not if fixtures were played behind closed doors.
And supporters have been left disappointed with the club’s decision to not offer refunds for the 2020/21 campaign, with at least part of the season expected to be played in front of empty stadiums.

Hide AdSunderland have committed to offering supporters who have already renewed their season tickets access to a free stream for all home games next season, but numerous fans took to social media to vent their frustration at this plan.
@M_Stubbs82 said: “We could end up paying our full season ticket cost to just watch a poor quality stream at home? That cost doesn't seem at all fair.”
@sven_safc added: “Never thought I'd see the day I'd cancel my season ticket but no way can I renew under those conditions. And theres only me from my household. What about those with multiple season tickets in a household? Disgraceful that like.”
@MJacko1989 commented: “The club have got this massively wrong IMO. Who on earth will pay £300+ for a streaming pass? Which can be bought cheaper on a game by game basis.”

Hide Ad@PabloTheMackem tweeted: “These answers are unacceptable and pretty poor. Granted, the club has to plan for next season but surely they can't believe a supporter pays the same amount to watch a stream than they would actually going to game? The numerous household answer is awful. Rethink needed!”
@adam_theaker posted: “Shocking way to treat supporters at lowest point in our history.”
@SR19__ added: “Love this club but if you think people are going to pay all that money to potentially stream a lot of next season, you are certainly mistaken.”
@GreggSAFC said: “So for my £400+ season ticket that I've already paid for next season, I'll receive a streaming pass for home games only? No partial refund on the huge amount of money I'm losing out on? If something isn't sorted out regarding this I'll definitely not be back the season after!”

Hide Ad@ollyisagudun tweeted: “So if my quick maths are right. If the season is held behind closed doors and I hadn't renewed and bought a stream for every game I'd be £140 better off? Come on at least include the away matches and make it beneficial to keep a season ticket if this does happen.”
@adamguest commented: “I've never been a season ticket holder as I live way down south, and even if I find this absolutely pathetic. A huge, huge faux pas.”
@safc_crazy posted: “This might just be the straw that breaks the backs of many camels, maybe even thousands of them.”
