Brighton ‘lead race’ for Newcastle United winger

Brighton are reportedly leading the race to sign Yankuba Minteh this summer - despite strong interest from Everton in the Gambian. Minteh has yet to kick a ball for the Magpies following his move to the club last summer and instead spent last season on-loan at Feyenoord where he enjoyed a successful loan spell under the guidance of new Liverpool manager Arne Slot.

Minteh has been valued at £40m by Newcastle and could be allowed to leave this summer in order to raise funds. Everton have been heavily-linked with a move for him, however, according to reports from iNews, Brighton are believed to be strong contenders for his signature. Minteh also has suitors in France with Lyon and Marseille among those credited with an interest in the winger.

Chelsea in fresh pursuit of Newcastle United star

Chelsea have reportedly made a second approach to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United this summer. Only Erling Haaland and Cole Palmer scored more Premier League goals than the Swedish international last season.

Chelsea’s interest in Isak comes amid Newcastle United’s battle to ensure they do not breach the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules with the Magpies facing a tight deadline to comply with those rules.

Isak, meanwhile, has reiterated his desire to stay at St James’ Park throughout the summer amid transfer links with Arsenal and Barcelona among others. Chelsea finished 6th in the Premier League last season and secured Conference League football.
