Townsend seals Newcastle deal and says '˜I can't wait to get started'
The England international has penned a five-and-a-half-year deal, keeping him on Tyneside until 2021.
Townsend told nufc.co.uk: “I’m delighted to be here.
“Newcastle United is a fantastic club with great fans, a great stadium and great tradition.

Townsend put pen to paper after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms, ending a 16-year stay at White Hart Lane which had soured in recent months.
The 24-year-old could make his debut when Everton welcome the Magpies to Goodison Park in the Premier League next Wednesday.
Newcastle head coach Steve McClaren, looking for a boost with his side third-bottom in the table and two points adrift of safety, enthused: “Bringing Andros to the club is a great signing. He is a very good talent who is a current England international and should be one for years to come, too.

“He feels he has a lot to prove and I can’t wait to see him do that in a Newcastle shirt.”
