Sunderland man charged with perverting the cause of justice after alleged bogus burglary claim

A Sunderland man has been charged with perverting the course of justice after allegedly making a bogus burglary report.

Earlier this month police received a report a car had been stolen after a house been burgled and car keys stolen in Kismet Street, Southwick.

Officers carried out inquiries and came to the conclusion the report may have been false.

Raymond Telfer, 39, of Kismet Street, was charged with perverting the course of justice and is due to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on March 23.
