Shopkeeper fends off knife raider in Scream mask
The man entered a shop in Murray Road, in the Avenues area of Chester-le-Street, at 11.30am yesterday.
He is described as in his 20’s, medium build, approximately 5’7” tall. He was wearing an army-style camouflage jacket over a grey hoodie, dark trousers and black Nike trainers and holding a white ‘scream’ mask over his face.

Hide AdHe demanded money from the shop owner but fled after being challenged.
DC Christopher Bentham, from Stanley CID, said "We are keen to speak to anyone who recognises the man shown in the CCTV. Although he was wearing a mask, there will be people out there who know who this man is.
"The shop owner, on this occasion, felt he could challenge this man, luckily no one was injured and no money was taken, however, we now need to the public’s help to stop this happening again."
