Seaham - Down Your Way

Tonight, Mr H O'Dell will preside at the evening service at 7pm in Seaham Spiritualist Church, Vane Hall, Cornelia Terrace. Entrance is £3.50.

There is the opportunity to voice your concerns about local issues and learn what is happening in the Dawdon Ward at the PACT meeting tomorrow at 5pm in Parkside Community Centre with representatives of the police, local councillors and other interested residents.

At 7pm tomorrow in the Farn Scouting Centre, Parkside Road, there is to be a Special General Meeting of Seaham Branch, Royal British Legion. All members are requested to attend as the meeting is crucial to the future of the branch. Help us continue to support our Armed Forces, past, present and future. Please make an effort to be present.

Palm Sunday Holy Communion services will be held at Christ Church at 10am and at St Andrew’s, Dalton-le-Dale, at 6pm. Evening prayer will take place at 6pm at Christ Church.

Bishop Mark’s Lent Course continues on Sunday at Blackhall Church hall, at 7.30pm.

Girls, 10 to 14 years, looking for fun and friendship are invited to come along and join 1st Dawdon Guide Company at 7pm on a Tuesdays in Dillon House, Sophia Street, opposite the Job Centre. Younger girls, seven to 10 years, are welcome to attend 1st Seaham Brownies from 5.30pm, also in Dillon House on a Monday.

At the AGM of Christ Church, parishioners were welcomed by the vicar, the Rev P Harrison. Celia Hunter was re-elected as church warden but there is still a vacancy for one more. All the nominations for members of the Parochial Church Council were accepted and duly elected. The report of the electoral role was given by Alan Charlton and the accounts and reports were presented in written form by the Rev P Harrison as well as his thanks for all who work for the church in so many ways.

There will be no messy church on Easter Sunday at Seaham Methodist Church.

As the fourth Friday of March is Good Friday, the monthly lunch at Christ Church will be a week earlier on March 18. Come along, enjoy good food and fellowship and have a flutter on raffle and tombola.
