Sunderland make-up artist's tips for Halloween at home as looks take Instagram by storm

If you follow 21-year-old Philippa Gibbons on Instagram, you will know that the make-up artist has a wide range of work in her repertoire.
From classic Halloween characters to a glittery and etheral princess, Philippa’s Instagram account is full of inspiration for whichever Halloween look you’re going for.

Hide AdAnd the long hours are always worth it when she sees the reaction to her work online.
Philippa, who works at Amy Bam Hair & Beauty Studio in Sunderland, said: “Halloween looks are the most time consuming, I like to draw and write down all my ideas before I start the look.
"My imagination can click at any moment where I think of more and more things I can add to one look so I have to write them all down so I don’t forget when it comes to producing the look.
"They can take anywhere up to two and seven hours for application and removal aswell as taking hundreds of photos to get the perfect one.”

Hide AdThe make-up artist hit headlines earlier this month with her spectacular Boris Johnson transformation, the first in her series of this year’s Halloween looks.
She has since posed as a toffee apple, a woodland pixie and circus clown, posting the final look online as well as a behind-the-scenes video for how it was put together.
While this Halloween is set to be very different due to restrictions imposed as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, Philippa has shared some simple steps to help you create your own macabre makeover from home.
"For an easy look, I’d recommend adhesive rhinestones to create mermaids/ice queens/princess and feel glam,” she said.

Hide Ad"Or grab your paints and create a colourful clown look with all the paints in your palettes, And most of all enjoy getting creative, there are no rules to make-up.”
