That’s the question we put to Echo readers on Facebook this week, with more than 2,000 people casting their votes in our poll.
A total of 70% voted that more restrictions should remain in place for those classed as extremely vulnerable by the NHS and Government; particularly those in the over-70s category.
This is what you said on the Sunderland Echo Facebook page:

Hide AdJoyce Galley: “Lockdown regulations should not be relaxed until it is safe for all ages and vulnerable people.”
Dorothy Elizabeth Dixon: “If we didn’t protect our vulnerable (my husband is one) the Government would be slated for not caring. Can’t win.”
Stewart Rooney: “People forget, they may be over 70 and fit and healthy but their immune system is still over 70, fighting off a virus will be harder.
“The problem with Sunderland at the minute is there are too many people who think this doesn't affect them so are carrying on like there is no lockdown.”

Hide AdJohn Wild: “Not stricter but possibly the same for a while. I know the older people in my family are managing because we’re shopping for them but they’re getting a little stir crazy, understandably.”
Chris Wilson: “If we are going to lock people who are 70 and over into their houses maybe we should all stay in lockdown because this virus does not discriminate.
“People of all ages are dying. It is the greed and selfishness of the business owners shareholders etc who want to drag the people back to work before this pandemic is over.
Bryan Seddon: “If it saves lives, yes I agree stricter restrictions should continue.”

Hide AdDenise Molloy: “It should be up to individuals how much they go out. A large number of over-70s do not venture out very far.”
Peter Kirby: “Should be the same for everyone. More over-70s are more likely to adhere to the rules.”
James Dowling: “My parents are over 70 and fitter and healthier than me in my mid-40s.”
