Body of man found in a car at Tesco Express car park in Seaham

Durham Constabulary has confirmed a man’s body was found in a car to the rear of the store, in Stockton Road, on Monday, November 25.
The man was in his 40s and his death is not being treated as suspicious.

Hide AdOfficers have cordoned off the car park and the store has been closed while emergency services deal with the incident.
A spokesman for Durham Constabulary said: “Officers were called at around 12.15pm on Monday to Tesco Express in Seaham following concerns for the welfare of a man who was found in his vehicle at the rear of the store.
“Paramedics also attended but the man was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
“His death is not believed to be suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.”

Hide AdWitness reports say the Tesco Express was closed all afternoon on Monday.
A cordon was in place around the car park but members of staff were seen stacking shelves inside the Tesco store.
A notice on the door said: “Due to unforeseen circumstances this store is temporarily closed and we will be reopening as soon as possible.
“Sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
A number of police vehicles and a fire engine were at the scene towards the rear of the store.
County Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed they were called to the incident at 1.51pm on Monday by police.
One engine from Seaham Fire Station was assisting police.
