No need for alarm as New Wear Crossing holds training exercise
Passers-by have been urged not to panic if they see an alarming sight at at New Wear Crossing this afternoon.
Emergency training is under way, with a dummy suspended from the bridge deck.
The Sunderland City Council Twitter feed has issued a warning about the work: "Don't be alarmed if you're passing #newwearcrossing. A Health and Safety training exercise is taking place on the pylon, it's a safety dummy!"
