Man remanded in custody over Sunderland hit and run
A London motorist has appeared in court after being charged over an alleged hit and run in Sunderland.
Two victims were left seriously injured after the incident, which took place on Hylton Road on Monday.
Omar Bakali, 24, of Hopefield Avenue, Brent, London, appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court charged with two accounts of assault, causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving otherwise than in accordance with licence and driving without insurance.
No pleas were entered and no application for bail was made.
Bakali was remanded in custody to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on Thursday, November 2.
