'˜Dapper Dan' lecturer in line for Most Stylish Mackem award
Daniel Ward’s penchant for stylish suits, waistcoats and pocket watches has earned him the nickname of Dapper Dan amongst his students – and from a TV game show host.
Bradley Walsh also gave him the moniker when he won £13,500 on The Chase.

Hide AdNow the 34-year-old film and media lecturer at the University of Sunderland is hoping to win the top gong at the Sunderland Retail and Style Awards after being nominated by a number of students.
Speaking about the nomination, he said: “It is one of the most exciting moments of my life, second only to winning The Chase on TV.”
“I like nothing better than to go shopping,” he admitted.
“And my two style icons are José Mourinho and The Rock. If it looks good on them, I reckon it will look good on me!”
Dan is one of a number of people who have been nominated in the Stylish Mackem category of this year’s Retail and Style Awards.

And there is still time to nominate your favourites in a range of categories.
A shortlist will be drawn up from the nominations, with the overall winners put to the public vote.
The winners will be revealed in a glitzy awards ceremony being held at the Bridges on Saturday, April 23, which will include live music, dinner and a fashion show.
