A jury in the trial of a man accused of killing his sister's boyfriend on Christmas Day last year has not yet reached a verdict.

Construction company boss Adam Jenkins murdered Simon Birch, 39, when he cut his neck with a kitchen knife on December 25, prosecutors claim.

Newcastle Crown Court has heard Jenkins had been hosting a Christmas Day lunch at his home in Newbottle, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, where Mr Birch died.
