Hundreds of cannabis plants uncovered as Police called out to huge drug farm in Sunderland

Officers were called to Woodbine Street at around 6.30pm on January 1, following reports of suspicious activity at a former commercial property.
Inside the premises police found a cannabis farm with around 500 plants. The drugs have been seized by police and the farm was dismantled.

Hide AdA Northumbria Police spokesman said: “At 6.30pm on January 1, we received a report of alleged suspicious activity at a disused commercial premises on Woodbine Street, Sunderland.
“Officers attended the address and inside located a cannabis farm with approximately 500 plants at various stages of growth.
“The farm has since been dismantled and the drugs seized. An investigation has been launched to identify those involved in connection with the farm.”
