Officers rushed to Seventh Street, in Horden, after a tip off that a “group of youths” were attempting a break in at around 8.45pm on Monday, August 24.
A Peterlee Police statement said: “Although the suspects left the scene as officers arrived, a search of the address revealed a sizeable cannabis farm in the early stages of construction, along with around 25 plants.

“Nearby, patrols of the numbered streets were carried out throughout the day and into the night.”
Peterlee Police, who also investigated a criminal damage report in nearby Sixth Street, said the “support from our community paid off again last night”.
