Album Review: Grandaddy - The Last Place
Formed in Modesto, California, in 1992, they built up quite a cult following and enjoyed modest chart success - more so in the UK than their native US - before splitting in 2006.
After making two solo albums, main man Jason Lytle reconvened the band in 2012, and this record - their fifth studio full-length - is the result of their labours since then.

Hide AdFor fans of the likes of Weezer and The Flaming Lips, their slightly psychedelic indie-rock is an easy listen in the best possible sense.
It showcases their brand of lo-fi sonics mixed with soaring harmonies, and its songs range from the achingly beautiful to the slightly weird and
It gets underway with gorgeous lead single Way We Won't, which has been getting lots of airplay from the likes of 6Music.
It continues in a similarly sumptious vein with Brush With The Wild, where Lytle sings of reconnecting with the natural world around him.

Hide AdEvermore is a track which improves with every listen, but my personal highlight is I Don't Wanna Live Here Anymore - simply sublime.
Fans of old will love this album, and if you're not already a convert, this might just be the record to do it. 9/10.
