Coronavirus: Sunderland University to suspend 'all face-to-face teaching'

The university said its announcement followed on from Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s latest address, which said people should start working from home wherever they could and avoi pubs, clubs, theatres and other such social venues

Hide AdThe university tweeted tonight, Monday, March 16, to say: “All face-to-face classroom teaching and assessment across our three UK campuses is suspended from Tuesday, March 17.
“Our libraries and other main facilities will remain open.
“Building on existing practice, we will move to being online only for teaching and assessment by March 23.
“The decision to suspend face-to-face teaching and assessment has been made in response to today's announcement by the Prime Minister.
“We remain committed to supporting all of our students and staff during these difficult times.”

Hide AdThe decision follows Durham University, which said last week that it was putting a stop to face-to-face classes, with sessions being held remotely online, while Newcastle University has also said today it would be doing the same.
On Friday, the University of Sunderland said it would keep staff and students updated across its channels and that protecting and supporting the health and wellbeing of its community was its main priority.
