Here’s some of the restaurants to visit along our award-winning coastline, in no particular order, for a meal with a view.
5. Downey's, Marine Walk, Roker
If you prefer to dine in with your fish and chips, Downey's in Marine Walk is a great spot with great views over the pier, with a good wine and beer list to boot. Its sister site at Stack also offers this most traditional of British dishes for sit in or take away. Photo: Stu Norton
6. The Seaburn Inn
The pub at Seaburn Inn has grown a loyal following since the hotel opened on the old Pullman Lodge site as part of a wave of new investment. Expect pub classics on the menu in traditional inn-style surroundings, with plenty of local artworks on the walls at this family-friendly spot. Photo: Frank Reid
7. Gabriele's, Seaburn.
It's an oldie but a goodie. Gabriele's in Queens Parade has been keeping Mackems well fed for decades and is good for a traditional meal that won't break the bank. Photo: national world
8. Prego, bottom of Dykelands Road
Prego has proved a colourful addition to the seafront after transforming the former Martino's site at the bottom of Dykelands Road. As well as a restaurant and bar area, there's a games lounge to keep you entertained with shuffleboards and more. Photo: Stu Norton
