Silksworth and Ryhope - Down Your Way
An Exhibition of memorabilia organised by Ryhope Heritage Group and Beamish Museum will take place in Ryhope Community Centre this Friday to commemorate 50 years since Ryhope Colliery closed. School children will visit on the Friday, and on the Saturday it will be open to the public from 10am to 1pm. On Saturday there will be a service in StPaul’s Church at 3.30pm. All are welcome.
North Street Methodist Church, Silksworth, is holding its Christmas fair this Saturday from 11am to 2pm. There will be a Santa’s Grotto, stalls and refreshments.

Hide AdThe Royal British Legion, Silksworth would like to thank everyone who supported the Remembrance Day Parade, as usual an excellent turnout, especially the children, paying tribute to our fallen heroes. The RBL does a tremendous job all year by supporting military personnel, veterans and their families.
Everyone is welcome to join the brass band carol service with refreshments in the Village Surgery, Silksworth Health Centre, on Tuesday, December 6, at 6pm.
The community carol service with the Millfield Salvation Army Band will be hosted by the IM. Methodist Church, Behind Blind Lane, on Wednesday, December 14, at 7.15pm. If you would like to make a Child’s Christmas Special this year then please bring a new child’s toy with you to the service.
Every year St Benedict’s Hospice offers people the opportunity to remember their loved ones by dedicating a light to them on their Light Up A Life Christmas Tree, which will be lit at a special service on Sunday, December 4, from 3pm to 5pm. Everyone who dedicates a light is welcome to attend.

Hide AdRyhope Community Forum meeting will be held in the community centre on Wednesday, November 30, at 11am. Everyone is welcome to go along and meet representatives from local police, Gentoo, local councillors and local responsive services.
