We are now close to the end of the school holidays and, while kids may be enjoying their time away from education, keeping them entertained is a role parents are needing to continue. To give those who need help with how to spend some time this summer, we’ve taken a look at what films are being shown at Sunderland City Centre’s Empire cinema through the coming days. The most shown film at the city centre site on the week of Monday, August 29 is Beast. The film is currently being shown eight times each day at Sunderland’s Empire Cinema with the earliest screening for the film, which has been rated a 15, at 11am. The newest offering from Jordan Peele, Nope, is still being shown four times per day too with the earliest showing at 11:20am daily. Younger viewers may be more interested in DC League Of Super Pets. The family film which is based on characters from the DC Cinematic Universe was released at the end of July and stars Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart. The film is on offer three times per day with the earliest viewing at 11:40. Another option for the whole family may be Minions: The Rise Of Gru which has now been available to watch on the big screen for over a month. This is the newest release in the hugely popular series and is still available three times per day. From DC to Marvel, and the newest Thor film, Love and Thunder which is a good opportunity for families to keep up with the universe. It is already one of the biggest films of the year and is shown four times per day throughout the week. Away from the animated content, there is plenty for older kids to enjoy thanks to screenings of Top Gun: Maverick which is shown four times each day this week and has a 12A age rating. Baz Luhrmann’s newest biopic Elvis which is rated 12 is also still available three times per day.
