Five copies of Ryhope-set Pearl of Pit Lane novel up for grabs
Pearl of Pit Lane was released earlier this month and follows the success of previous novels Belle of the Back Streets and The Tuppenny Child.
Ryhope-born author Glenda grew up reading books on loan from the old Ryhope Village Library and the village’s rich history informs much of her work.

Hide AdSpeaking about her latest release, she said: "Pearl of Pit Lane is another gritty novel set in old Ryhope of 1919. All of my novels are stand alone books and can be read in any order.
“The research is fascinating for all of the books as I use the original old maps of Ryhope so that my characters can walk streets and drink in pubs that no longer exist. However, as Pearl of Pit Lane features women walking the pit lanes to sell their bodies, I invented a fictional street. I didn't want anyone in Ryhope collaring me saying 'Hey, that never happened in our street!'.”
We have five copies of Pearl of Pit Lane to give away to readers. To be in with a chance of winning, answer this question: which animal is depicted in a statue which welcomes people into Ryhope?
A:: Pit Pony
B:: Canary
C:: Collie Dog
