Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 challenges: how to search Gnomes at Homely Hills, defeat Kit to enter Catty Corner Vault – and every Week 1 challenge
17 June saw the start of Fortnite Chapter 2’s Season 3, with an in-game event called ‘The Device’ setting in motion a wave of changes that have made some big differences to a now soggy map.
Fortnite’s map is now a watery paradise, with entire areas altered drastically by an influx of H2O.

Hide AdThe addition of the briny blue where once there was land will likely change the way Fortnite plays in considerable ways; fan favourite locations seem to have been flooded out entirely, or at least changed immeasurably by a load of water moving in to the neighbourhood.
The new season also brought with it a new batch of weekly challenges.
The first of Season 3’s tasks might not be all that taxing, and most just charge players with visiting and exploring the new locations that have sprung up in the wake of the map’s ‘drowning’.
Here's everything you need to know:

How to search Gnomes at Homely Hills
Homely Hills was added to Fornite during Season 1 of Chapter 2, and lies north of Pleasant Park and east of Craggy Cliffs.
It’s a small group of five houses, and you’ll want to head there as soon as possible to complete this challenge.

Hide AdOnce you’ve landed, begin making your search for the Gnomes, which have become something of an icon with the lore of Fortnite, surviving seemingly everything thrown at them during the game’s myriad changes.
Of the five houses in Homely Hills, Gnomes can be found in at least three (these are just the ones we’ve found so far), and there is also a Gnome next to a tree outside of the southern-most house.
Round the back of that very same house, you can find another Gnome tending to the barbeque.
How to enter Catty Corner Vault
Catty Corner is one of the brand new points of interest added as part of the game’s liquid overhaul, and you’ll find it southeast of Lazy Lake and snuggled between the already existing Retail Row and Misty Meadows.

Hide AdThe area is patrolled by Kit, the son of Meowscles (who patrolled the Box Factory, which used to sit at this same location).
Kit is a cat in a junk mech because Fortnite.
The key here is to defeat him, which is by no means an easy task – he’s flanked by Season 3’s new Marauder henchmen.
If you manage to take him down, Kit will drop his unique weapon for you to claim (a Mythic Charged Shotgun), and a key card that will grant you access to the vault.
You’ll find said vault on the west side of Catty Corner under a storage container; the card reader is to its right along the fence.
Enter it to complete challenge for the week.
