Four cars have collided and caused an oil spillage on the A19 in Sunderland.

The accident happened southbound between the junctions with the A690, at Doxford Park, and the A1018 at about 4.50pm today.

Lane two was closed for a short while while the vehicles were removed.

The A19 is now back open but there is still residue on the road and delays are likely
