Six-year-old Lily McMurrough is set to donate her hair to the Little Princess Trust with her first haircut since lockdown. The Trust creates wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment and Lily’s mum Marie Pullan has spoken of her pride in her daughter’s selflessness. The 32-year-old, from Eldon Street, told the Echo of her surprise when Lily revealed what she wanted to do. She said: “I was shocked when she said it because it was just out of the blue. No one close to Lily has done something like this. “I was a bit sad at first as she has lovely long hair but it is such a great thing for her to do. “She is quite charitable anyway, she does little things like donating a bag of bananas to the soup kitchen.” Lily, who turned six in May, will be getting her haircut on Sunday, July 5 and is set to lose around eight to nine inches of hair. She has also been raising money for the NHS throughout lockdown, totalling hundreds of pounds. Marie added: “We have nurses and paramedics in our family so she is aware of the pandemic and wanted to raise money for the hospital. “Myself and the whole family are so proud of her, I’m really happy that she is putting others first.” Donate to Lily’s fundraiser by clicking here.
