Huge plumes of thick black smoke can be seen for miles across the North East as firefighters tackle a vehicle ablaze in Felling.
Emergency services are at the scene of the large fire in Felling are urging the public to stay clear of the area.
The fire involves a vehicle as well as a large quantity of waste which can be seen in images posted on social media by Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service.
The shocking pictures show the bellows of smoke which can be seen for miles.
A spokesman for Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service says: “Crews are currently dealing with a fire involving a vehicle and a large quantity of waste in the Felling area.
“Four fire engines and an aerial ladder platform are on scene.
