Fire crews battle huge fire in Washington near Nissan and aircraft museum
and live on Freeview channel 276
The fire sent huge plumes of smoke into the air near to the A1290. There were no casualties and all three crews have since left the scene.
Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service were called out at 8.07pm on Tuesday, August 4. The fire was beside Usworth Cottages.

Hide AdThey said they believed the fire started in some sheds near to the Aircraft Museum and the Nissan site.
Thick black smoke could be seen by passing motorists from the A1290.
Watch manager Danny Forster, of Washington Fire Station, said: “There were three appliances initially. Two from Washington, one from South Shields.
“It’s just a couple of derelict sheds - there were four or five of them in a row. We put it out using hoses. Nobody was hurt. There was nobody here."
