Peterlee's Neighbourhood Policing Team has raised concerns following incidents involving young people gathering in the town, as well as Shotton Colliery, Wheatley Hill and Wingate.
The team took a number of them back to Peterlee Police Station, where their parents were called and asked to collect them, adding a warning they could face fines for failing to ensure their children adhere to the coronavirus restrictions, which prohibit groups of more than six meeting outside and any households mixing inside, unless they are part of a support bubble.

A spokesperson for Durham Constabulary said: “We respectfully ask that you please familiarise yourselves with the current regulations and restrictions covering our area.
"Please speak with your children and educate them with these regulations as they are not exempt.
“Also, allowing your child to have a sleepover at a friend's house is a breach of covid and parents will be fined for allowing your child to do so.”
