The 31-year-old has described the moment 14 police officers in full riot gear turned up in the Hotel Rio Park’s games room and demanded holidaymakers return to their rooms.

Matthew, who lives in Hylton Castle, said: “We are like prisoners. All we can do is sit in our rooms.
“The only time we can go down stairs is for our meals. We’re not allowed to sit outside.
“We were sitting in the games room on Sunday evening (March 15), there were about 30 to 40 of us but there was no music or anything.
